Industry standards and safety points for the start-up operation of angle grinders
As a commonly used electric tool in fields such as metal processing and construction decoration, the standardization of the starting operation of the angle grinder directly affects the safety of the operation and the service life of the equipment. Mastering the scientific initiation process is an essential skill for industry practitioners.

Three core preparations need to be made before starting. Firstly, safety protection checks must be carried out, and complete protective equipment must be worn: insulated gloves can isolate the risk of electric shock, impact goggles can block splashing metal debris or dust, anti slip work shoes can enhance operational stability, and if there is a lot of dust in the working environment, dust masks should also be worn to reduce respiratory injuries. Next is equipment status verification, which includes checking whether the power cord is damaged or aged,
whether the plug and socket are in good contact, and focusing on whether there are exposed copper wires at the power cord joints; Observe whether the grinding wheel has cracks or gaps, whether the installation is firm, and gently rotate the grinding wheel by hand to confirm that there is no jamming phenomenon. Finally, the homework environment needs to be cleaned up. The start-up area should be cleared of flammable and explosive materials, the ground should be kept dry and free of water, surrounding obstacles should be cleared, and sufficient operating space should be reserved to avoid safety accidents caused by environmental factors.

The startup process should follow the operating procedures of "one check, two listen, and three try". After connecting the power, first confirm that the switch is in the off state, and then turn on the power switch; At the moment of startup, it is necessary to carefully listen to the sound of the equipment running. Under normal circumstances, it should be a steady buzzing sound. If there are any abnormal noises or vibrations, the power should be immediately turned off for inspection. Subsequently, conduct a no-load test run and let the angle grinder run without load for about 30 seconds. Observe whether the grinding wheel rotates smoothly, without eccentricity or jumping. At the same time, test whether the switch and emergency stop device are sensitive and effective. After confirming that the equipment has no faults, enter the formal operation stage.
After starting, it is necessary to continuously monitor the operation status of the equipment. If there is a decrease in speed, overheating of the grinding wheel, or abnormal overheating of the machine body during operation, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection to check for problems such as blocked grinding wheel, motor overload, or unstable power supply voltage, in order to avoid the danger of grinding wheel bursting caused by equipment overload. Following a standardized start-up process not only ensures the personal safety of practitioners, but also effectively extends the service life of angle grinders, improves operational efficiency, and is an important foundation for safe operations in the industry.
