Single Diaphragm Pump

Diaphragm Pump - Overview

A diaphragm pump is a positive displacement pump that uses a combination of the reciprocating action of a rubber, thermoplastic or teflon diaphragm and suitable valves on either side of the diaphragm to pump a fluid.

Types of Diaphragm Pump

Single Diaphragm Pump

Uses compressed air as the power source. It is a positive displacement pump that changes volume due to the reciprocating deformation of the diaphragm. Its working principle is similar to that of a plunger pump. Compressed air enters the pneumatic cavity, causing the diaphragm to move, the main spring to be compressed, the one-way valve to open, and the medium in the working cavity to be pressed out. Then the pneumatic valve core moves left to close the air inlet, the air is discharged, the pneumatic cavity is decompressed, the diaphragm is reset, and the next action cycle is entered. Such continuous reciprocating motion guides the medium to be sucked in and discharged.

Double Diaphragm Pump

Double diaphragm pumps usually use compressed air, nitrogen or natural gas as the power source. The main directional control valve distributes the power source gas to the gas chamber, applies uniform pressure to the inner surface of the diaphragm, and moves the diaphragm connecting rod back and forth. When one side of the diaphragm moves outward under the action of gas pressure, the other side of the diaphragm is pulled inward, and one side is discharged while the other side is sucked. The direction of discharge and suction of liquid is controlled by the check valve. The suction stroke reduces the pressure in the pump chamber and increases the volume, forming an atmospheric pressure differential, pushing the liquid through the suction pipe, through the suction side check valve, and into the external liquid chamber. This repeated movement completes the continuous delivery of the medium.

Advantages of Diaphragm Pump

High gas-tightness: Using a diaphragm provides a high level of gas-tight operation. To reduce the risk of leakage further, diaphragm pumps can be equipped with a back-up diaphragm. If the primary diaphragm becomes damaged, the additional diaphragm’s closed surface safeguards against potentially hazardous gas leaks.

Low maintenance construction: Diaphragm pumps are designed for long-lasting durability and therefore have a low maintenance requirement. They have the potential to be maintenance-free and contain few moving parts, reducing the risk of wear and tear.

Oil-free operation: As all pump parts in contact with the media are strictly separated from the drive, oil cannot pollute the media. This makes diaphragm pumps ideal for all applications that require the utmost cleanliness.

Chemical resistance: Only very few parts of the diaphragm pump come in contact with the media, and all of them can be chosen from a wide range of different materials to ensure compatibility.

Compact design: Their robust, compact design makes diaphragm pumps ideal for use in tight spaces or where floor space is limited. They are also lightweight, portable and can be mounted in any direction, providing additional flexibility.

Dry-run safe: Diaphragm pumps used to transfer liquids are dry-run safe and can continue operating for long periods without damaging any components.

Components of Diaphragm Pump

A diaphragm pump is composed of relatively few main parts, these are:

Non-return valves (suction and discharge)

Pumping chamber

Diaphragm

Suction manifold

Discharge manifold

Application of Diaphragm Pump

Chemical Processing:
In the chemical industry, air diaphragm pumps are extensively used for transferring aggressive chemicals, acids, solvents, and other hazardous materials. Their ability to handle corrosive fluids and operate safely in explosive atmospheres makes them indispensable in chemical plants.

Wastewater Treatment:
In wastewater treatment facilities, diaphragm pumps are used to handle sludge, slurries, and other high-solid-content fluids. Their robust design allows them to operate efficiently in these challenging conditions, ensuring reliable performance and minimal downtime.

Mining and Construction:

In mining and construction, air diaphragm pumps are used for dewatering, transferring abrasive slurries, and pumping concrete. Their ability to handle abrasive materials without significant wear and tear makes them ideal for these demanding applications.

Food and Beverage:

In food processing, air diaphragm pumps are used to transfer ingredients such as sauces, syrups, and dairy products, where gentle handling is required to prevent product degradation. The use of hygienic materials and designs ensures that these pumps meet strict food safety standards, preventing contamination and providing the highest levels of product quality.

Pharmaceuticals:

In the pharmaceutical industry, diaphragm pumps are used to transfer delicate fluids, including solvents and suspensions. Their hygienic design and ability to prevent cross-contamination make them essential in pharmaceutical production processes. Air diaphragm pumps are often used in applications such as sterile fluid transfer, where the pump’s ability to operate without generating heat or contamination is critical.

FAQ

Q: Where do we use a diaphragm pump?

A: In general, diaphragm pumps are used for fluid transfer and lower pressure spray applications that require a smooth and consistent flow. This makes them great options for food and beverage manufacturing, water treatment and transfer, chemical processing, paint transfer, and more.

Q: How many cfm do I need for a diaphragm pump?

A: So, the rule of thumb is as follows: take the liquid flow rate of the pump you're considering and multiply that number by 0.75. That's the CFM you'll need for most cases.

Q: Can diaphragm pumps run continuously?

A: A diaphragm pump operates continuously. This means that the diaphragm is permanently in motion.

Q: What is the PSI for a diaphragm pump?

A: Most air operated diaphragm pumps can handle air pressures up to 125 psi or 8.6 bar.

Q: Are you a factory or a trading company ?

A: We are a factory and trading company at the same time.

Q: How about the quality of the products ?

A: Our products are of high quality and we have registered and reputable brands.

Q: What's the MOQ for each items ?

A: 100 pieces.

Q: What's our shipping ways ?

A: We can provide different types of shipping such as sea, air, and land.

Q: What is your terms of payment?

A: T/T 30% as deposit, and 70% before delivery. We'll show you the photos of the products and packages before you pay the balance.

Q: How about your delivery time?

A: Generally, it will take 20 to 30 days after receiving your advance payment. The specific delivery time depends on the items and the quantity of your order.

Q: Do you test all your goods before delivery?

A: Yes, we have 100% test before delivery.
